Day 2 of daily writing challenge.
A lot of people claim to have a life verse. I never found one but I think one has finally found me. It's a recurring verse that seems to be my life motto at this point.
What verse is it?
Luke 9:13 "But Jesus said, 'You feed them'."
"God", I ask, "who's going to feed all these children after church?"
"You feed them" is the reply.
"Lord, whose going to feed the kids when we go to Atlanta or North Carolina?"
"You feed them."
"Lord, whose going to help feed the kids on our weekend outings?"
"You feed them."
Not long after Jesus' request to feed the crowd the disciples made a plea.
"Impossible!" they exclaimed. "We only have five loaves and two fish."
I can relate to such a plea. I think "we only have...." has been upon my lips a few dozen or so times. But we bring what we have and He makes it work.
He has been faithful to provide enough.
Let that bring Him praise. When there was forty at our table. There was enough. When there were ten living in my home there was enough. No matter the number or circumstance He made "enough" happen.
When we were in Atlanta my husband, Jack, and I went to buy snacks for our group of 15 (We had brought inner city kids to Atlanta to volunteer at the Dream Center). When Jack pulled up our account balance it was at zero. Not anywhere near the amount it should have been. There had been a mistake made and when we called about it they told us it couldn't be fixed til Monday. So there we were in Atlanta with no money and a lot of kids to care for.
Thank goodness for sisters. My sister wired us money. And there was "enough".
But then God did something on Sunday that was so unexpected. The Dream Center has a church service so we went on our last day. At church they called me and my oldest daughter forward to share why we were there. We told them about the outreach we had been doing with the kids and that we wanted to inspire the kids we work with to do more in their own communities. We also shared how we were given a building to use in the projects to do ministry from.
Well, the pastor decided to take up an offering for us on the spot. I had never had something like that happen. It was so touching.
God again showed that no matter the amount: zero, five fish, money orders, offerings... He can make it be "enough".
Oddly, my husband's income has doubled over this last year but still God has made it turn into "enough".
As scripture says: "As goods increase, so do those who consume them." True. True.

Enough
